HOMEWORK POLICY :


  • • Homework a purposeful learning task related to the topic, assigned to the students by the teacher in order to keep them meaningfully invotved outside the classroom and to provide opportunities for students to be responsible for their own learning to reinforce, practice and refine the knowledge and skills leant in the class, to provide them with the opportunity for learning beyond the classroom, to encourage them to take initiative and responsibility of self regulated learning and study beyond what is explained and further keep them engaged the task completion of self discipline.

  • Implementation :
  • • School’s Homework policy will be available for staff and parents subject teachers will regularly set and discuss Home work task with their students and co-class teachers.
  •  
  • • Each task will be purposeful, meaningful and relevant to the current, previous syllabus to achieve the learning out come.
  •  
  • • Home work be in various forms : Question and answer worksheet, projects, assignments, etc. reading feedback on the home work will be given by teachers after correction and will be duly signed on regular basis.
  •  
  • • Teachers will guide student about the upkeep of the notebook as per the criteria given by school marks class work / home work notebooks shall considered as internal marks.
  •  
  • • Students going on personal leave, medical leave must take the follow up of home work from the respected sub teachers / friends.
  •  
  • • Large assignments as home work is not necessary, however the home work provides students opportunity to practice skills review the content, ( ) the understanding, reflect on their own work, self study etc.
  •  
  • • School shall give assignments that increase the effectiveness and quality of Home work that includes.
  •  
  • • Work that is directly related to what has already be explained and practiced in class.
  •  
  • • Activities that help them understand more deeply the content or practice procedure they have been introduced in class.
  •  
  • • It’s a work that offers opportunity to further explore their increase in the subject, develop to be creative and take risks.

  • • Home work during permitted leaves :

  • • Parents must discuss the home work with the teachers those who are going on and are on approved leaves.
  •  
  • • Complete any work missed due to absence from classes.
  •  
  • • Has bought the correct material home to complete the assignment as per the timetable.
  • Std. 1st and 2nd:
  • • No home work however additional parental support on early literature and numeracy home fun is allocated which consist of reading and activities with and by parents. Gathering of additional information or materials. Reading spellings, drawing and coloring with pasting.

  • • Time frame will be 30 min. per day with reading for at least 10 min.

  • Std. 3rd to 5th
  • • Reading texts with parents help or independently.

  • • Simple reinforcement tasks associated with classroom activities

  • • Unfinished class work as home work.

  • • Reading texts with parents help or independently.

  • • 40-45 min/day reading for 15 min. of the home work allocation. (2hrs. per week)

  • Std. 6th to 8th
  • • Independent reading on daily basis.

  • •Simple reinforcement tasks associated with classroom activities.

  • • Unfinished class work as home work.

  • •Spelling of high frequency words.

  • • No to exceed 60 min/day, reading for 20 min. in home work. (1hrs. daily)

  • Secondary classes:
  • • As they have to go ahead with experiential learning from 9th onwards the students are expected to study 2 to 5 hrs. / week night and 4hrs. on weekends during peak exam period. (2hrs. daily)
